Even though this doesn't totally communicate it, this is Walter giving his brother a big hug.
Walter is definitely a hugging child.
Playground tour
Often on Saturdays, I'll take the boys for a tour of new playgrounds to them
as Cochrane has 26 not counting the new developments still run by developers.
These are all around Gleneagles.

It's challenging to get Henry to take an outdoor photo without sunglasses but Natalia got one
after church one Sunday morning.

Henry and I sometimes go to Mitford Pond, a stocked trout pond in Cochrane. No fish yet, but we keep trying.

I went to Henry's Sportball class and was surprised to see him paying attention, listening,
and not making animal sounds instead of talking to coach Hiro.

We went for another playground tour after the dealership, this time to Glenbow. The boys
were fascinated by the foam on Big Hill Springs Creek.

Walter thinks he's five and doesn't understand why he can't just climb everything. Needless to
say, he takes a bit more active supervision.
Long Weekend Fun
Full size
We lucked out and had gorgeous long weekend weather in Cochrane. I took the boys for playground
tours again, this time to Riviera and Riversong. Here's Henry being proud atop a log.

The plant area was a bit underwhelming actually, but the rest of Granary Road is definitely fun
for kids and worth a tour if you're in the south already. At $50 for the family though (and with a
high-end expensive food market around it), it wasn't a cheap outing.

We went over to Grayson and Rhys' house for Grayson's 3rd birthday. With great weather, Alf put out
a slip and slide that the kids loved.

The best part of birthday parties - CAKE, or in this case cupcakes.

I took the boys for a hike at Big Hill Springs, but they were much more excited about the
bubble sets they got from Grayson's party.

Henry thought it was cool that he could put a bubble on his hand.
Full size
So, of course, I had to help Walter do it too.
Full size
He was JACKED about the bubbles on his mitt, even though it took about 100 tries to get it right
and to not have Walter wreck it.

Walter did well, actually hiking almost the whole 3 km loop with Henry doing just fine too.

A purple aster that the boys quite liked and which was everywhere.

Hike up Jumpingpound Mountaing
Full size
Now that I've identified 107 peaks from our deck, I now have to go to the top of all of them.
This is a sub-alpine meadow on Jumpingpount Mountain, that while being super close to the road
it does take a drive on the Powderface Trail which is pretty heavily frequented by big lumber
trucks.

Looking over to the east ridge that I jumped over to. 42 minutes to summit from the
car is pretty fast.

A look at Tiara Peak, a scramble that my friend Dan and I had done in November one year.
Full size
A quick look up Cougar Creek with Louis, although we turned back for medical reasons that day.
Mt Townsend and the Epic/Mystic Tower were on the tick list, but will stay there for now.
Rock climbing with Maria and Dan
Full size
Maria invited my friend Dan and I to do a fun 4-pitch climb called 'Le Soulier'. Here she is in the
morning before our climb.
